Formed by Texans for Texans, we are a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to supporting the long-term resilience of the Texas coast by working with coastal landowners to conserve and protect coastal marshes, prairies, and bottomland hardwood forests. Our goal is to work with and support landowners to keep ecosystem benefits intact and functioning, as well as to help the public understand and appreciate both the value of coastal ecosystems and the importance of supporting the landowners who steward these natural lands and the benefits that they provide to us all.
Donations to TCX will be used to provide grant support to landowners whose properties are providing ecosystem benefits like carbon storage, flood mitigation, and wildlife habitat. This support will enable a transition from an agrarian community that is being crushed under the pressure of a changing world into one that is vibrant, adaptable, and sustainable for generations to come.

The Importance of Coastal Ecosystems Coastal ecosystems provide a variety of benefits to society, yet we are losing them at a rapid rate to development, erosion, and sea level rise.

Why It WorksCarbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere by plants, which store carbon in their roots, wood, and in the soil for long periods
of time. |
Donate To Support Local Carbon StorageYour donation will support carbon storage that is already occurring on the Texas coast.

Natural Carbon Storage In Texas Ecosystems
In Texas, the vast majority of natural lands are privately owned. These lands remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air, reduce the severity of flooding and storm surges, nurture fisheries, and provide migratory bird habitat. The numerous benefits to society that these natural lands provide often go unnoticed until they are lost to development.
Texas Coastal Exchange (TCX) is educating the public about these ecosystem benefits, as well as providing a way for them to support local landowners and take action against climate change.
